I know, I know. I’ve been a terrible poster throughout our last challenge. But I was reading, I swear!! I’ve read some books over the past few weeks that I’ve really enjoyed so I’m going to throw them up here, even though our challenge doesn’t necessarily start for a few more days.
Ok so let’s throw out an easy one first Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography. First thing, you gotta be a fan. I would not recommend this to people who just like reading autobiographies or like “hey you may not like him but he’s been through some interesting shit” No. I love Bruce and I love his music but I’ve never gotten in depth with where or why he writes what he writes (other than it’s about Jersey). So for me it was really interesting to see where he came from and what he went through. A lot of times he even quotes the songs within the stories and then you get them stuck in your head, kind of like a soundtrack to the book. Again, you have to be a fan. I enjoyed having his songs stuck in my head after I was done reading. He doesn’t even get too in depth with his battle with depression, which the book was highly praised for.
The only negative thing that I have to say is his writing is a little prosey but hey, he’s a song writer.
All in all, I enjoyed it.
Welcome back GG 🙂
