We Lived Happily During the War by Ilya Kaminsky

Padraig O Tuama explores this poem in a June, 2021 episode, which is so apt today. Sixteen minutes of listening–but not enough. https://onbeing.org/programs/ilya-kaminsky-we-lived-happily-during-the-war/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Lit%20Hub%20Daily:%20February%2025%2C%202022&utm_term=lithub_master_list

  1. I am attending a workshop with Padraig O Tuama that meets on Friday afternoons. Coincidentally, today he talked about this poem and “On Asking To Write a Poem About Viet Nam” by Hayden Carruth and “Wild Flowers” by Cobby Eckermann. They are all “war poems.” An hour wasn’t long enough! I was so captivated that I also listened to the OnBeing program. It’s wonderful to explore poetry with Padraig O Tuama. Our minds were in sync today, Teri.
