Leslie’s Reading list

One comment

Hi All! I’m excited to start the summer reading challenge today! I woke up at 4am and got at it.  For my list I picked a couple of re-reads that I’ve been meaning to go back to for years, a couple of half finished reads which I will re-start. and then all new material. I tried to vary the genres so that I am continuously engaged by varied material.  Here is my list:

1) Dune – Frank Herbert  * Haven’t read it yet but have always wanted to

2) The Color of Water – James McBride  * read it about 10 years ago

3) Victorian Preserves and Pickles -Leopold  * Victorian cooking history and recipes – I’m going to make the recipes too, so while it is a small book this may be one of the longer reads

4) Tiny Ladies in Shiny Pants – Jill Soloway  *Humorous Autobiography -re-read

5) Moranthology – Caitlin Moran * Humorous Autobiography – New

6) A Long Way Down – Nick Hornby *Started it but never finished about 6 years ago

7) The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie – Muriel Spark *reread and one of my favorites

8) The Gargoyle – Andrew Davidson *Started but never finished about 4 years ago

9) The Tiger’s Whisker and other stories – Courlander *half finished

10) 30 Lessons for Loving – Karl Pillemer *My mom got me and my partner this book and I think she will possibly maim me if I don’t read it before we get married.

If time allows I will read another book which is a DIY book called The Backyard Homestead, which is a 300 or so page manual on how to to raise lots of food on only one acre, which is probably what I will be doing when I move to my next place (Nepal!!)
