Just in case you’re unfamiliar with who she is:
Ronda Jean Rousey (/ˈraʊzi/; born February 1, 1987) is an American mixed martial artist, judoka and actress. She is the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion,[6] as well as the last Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion. She is undefeated in mixed martial arts, having won eleven of her twelve fights in the first round[7] and nine by armbar.[8] Rousey was the first U.S. woman to earn an Olympic medal in Judo at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008.[9] In November 2012, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that Rousey had become the first female fighter to sign with the UFC.
She’s also GORGEOUS, humble, a huge nerd and hysterical. She’s my ultimate girl crush and she’s changing the face of sports single handedly, literally. Her average fight last seconds, some short enough to be a gif but I’ve never seen one longer than an instagram video (20 seconds). Husband picked up this book for me as a surprise gift because he’s adorable like that.
I will not finish this by the time the challenge is over, unfortunately. However, if you’re feeling a little low and need a kick in the ass, pick it up! I’m halfway through and signed up for a 10k in October. I haven’t run since before I was pregnant. That’s a year. But after reading about the pure determination, internal strength and pure guts this woman has, I know I can accomplish anything!
It’s a quick read. Not a boring biography. The chapter are very short, sometimes only 3 or 4 pages. Each chapter is an anecdotal story from her training with a motivational passage at the beginning.
The woman trademarked the phrase “Do Nothing Bitch.” Lol as in, “my mom taught me to work for myself and not be some Do Nothing Bitch.”
She’s a wild one. And it’s contagious.
Sounds like a wonderful book! Where’s your 10k? You’re gonna destroy it!!! =)
