I love talking about reading adventures with people around me because it invariably results in book recommendations! I picked this up at the library and ripped right through it- I was told by my neighbor Nancy that this is a nonfiction book that reads like a novel. I think she was spot on!
I enjoyed Parker’s writing, though I must admit it did feel redundant in some instances. However– what’s the book all about?
This is a partial autobiography written by an African American Christian abortion doctor, who essentially advocates for women’s choice as part of his own belief system. He makes a very direct moral argument for abortion, and I think every person who identifies as Christian should read this book. I also think anyone who wants to bolster their knowledge about abortion and the ridiculous amount of stress Parker endures on a DAILY basis should read this.
I enjoyed it overall, though there were moments where I had to hold myself back from skipping pages, since he does repeat several points throughout the book. However, it was a great recommendation and I’m happy to have read this new and important book.
