Just had to share this photograph that my daughter texted me while on a walk in the woods with Stella. Can you believe these roots? Two different tree genus and the same phenomena. The tree in the foreground is an old growth Western Juniper, the back one is a mature Ponderosa Pine. Find myself wondering what has caused such intertwining. The ebb and flow of the river, perhaps?
Gorgeous photo! Thank you for sharing 🙂

Stella!
I think of the river running through these roots. One can hear the water running up the trunk and into the branches, against the pull of gravity, I’ve read. And then I look down at my hands, the confusion of veins revealed by the loss of so-called baby fat. A baby no more. I can see my workings.
Thanks, JNaz!

Ah, yes, we are all affected by erosion. And thank you for reminding me of water running up…
