Rick Riordan Presents: The Storm Runner by J. C. Cervantes ...
This is part of the book cover

In order to get images on the website more easily (based on the comments by Teri and Barbara in the mail art thread) a simple copy and paste will work! I clicked on an image on the internet, hit copy (right clic

k and then copy…or Ctrl c…or Command c for mac), and then just chose paste here (Ctrl v or right click and choose paste)  Now for the book review…

The Storm Runner was a good book and is really typical of the Rick Riordan presents series, which are books written by young authors who write in the same genre as RR. Rick Riordan is the author of the Percy Jackson series (The Lightning Thief…etc), and all the books he writes or presents have to do with ancient world mythology and feature a young protagonist main hero and some cool sidekicks. I have read most of the books in the RR Presents series and like them all because I learn so much about mythological characters. The Storm Runner features Mayan Mythology, and I’ve learned several of the major gods and about how demons are made as well as the basic structure of the Mayan afterlife. I learned that there are giants, sorcerers, and seers in the mix as well…and that some powers are derived by having lighting hammered into other objects…or people! Fascinating! It’s only a couple hundred pages of easy vocab, and a really quick read. However, unlike many of the other books in the series, I was not super excited for the sequel, but I had already purchased it so I’m reading it anyway.

  1. Thanks for the tips on getting photos on the website! I loved Greek myths as a child. It would be interesting to learn about mythology cross culturally–especially through novels. I love the artwork!
