MoMA hosted a live interview and Q&A with Neri Oxman on YouTube because the related exhibition is unavailable, of course. It did a number on my brain, so I wanted to share it so you can have that experience, too, if you have an hour. I probably should have looked at what I could find on MoMA’s website in advance & I have to admit that I was hanging on with my fingertips at the beginning, trying to figure out what in the world we were talking about, but I’m so glad I stuck with it to the end. Science and Art. She rocked me.
Here’s the link:
Mind blown. Completely. I still have no idea how to speak about what I have just watched. Woah. Thank you, Teri…

The interview with Neri Oxman was amazing. It was incredibly hard to wrap my head around the details, but my intuitive sense of her work makes me so hopeful. I was mesmerized by the interview and wanted to hear more. I found a TED talk, but it is still hard to really grasp her thinking; she is such a brilliant visionary. I’d love to experience the exhibit and peruse the catalogue. Thank you for the post!

You’re welcome, JNaz and Barbara. I’m glad you’re of the same mind (blown) as I am when it comes to Neri Oxman. Way, way above my paygrade but, as Barbara says, heartening. I want to listen again and maybe take some notes this time. I’ll look for that TED talk!

I gotta say Teri- you always push me – this is so great… it makes me wonder if some of my approach to sculpture and art generally is congruent with material ecology. I have to think about it more and don’t want to only turn the point towards myself like WW π I wish I had the kind of resources to do this kind of sh**!!
Also, and I hope this doesn’t come off as superficial– Neri Oxman is gorgeous– her voice, her words, her look– her hair! I think I might have a little crush π

Well, I have a little crush on her, too, Borkali! I still have the tab for her video open and I can see it as I write this–that and the tab for the Decorah Eagle Cam, the nest that Barbara pushed me into. My goodness. I’m in that nest with the eaglets every day. Obsessed. (Thank you, Barbara!)

Teri- we hit it again! I emailed Barbara THIS MORNING about the eaglets– who have gotten so big! They have been therapeutic to watch in their peace x freedom.
