By The Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee is probably the best YA Fantasy book I have read in a while. It is in the same series of authors I have been reading, but this one is BY FAR the best. Outerspace? Check. Shapeshifting young female protagonist who is actually a fox? Yes that is there. Korean view of metaphysical energyflow as the basis for practical engineering? Yup. Action and adventure? Definiely. Ghost sidekick? uh-huh! Explicit vision of how to treat non gender binary individuals? Yes that is there as well. DOOO IT…. REAAAD IT…..
Also, today is IDAHoTB which is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia and all other identity alphabet soup phobia. And it is our online bookclub meetup at I time I can make it here in Nepal. Looking forward so much to sharing and hanging out with all of you.
