Week 10: Memoirs & Misinformation by Jim Carrey & Dana Vachon

I finished reading Memoirs and Misinformation today. That’ll make 7 books for summer reading, since I doubt I’ll complete another read before Sunday. I’m happy with my comeback after a bit of a gap midway there.

This novel is intense. Jam packed with celebrity sightings– I’d call this a deep fake of a novel. If you are unfamiliar with the term deep fake- it refers to a kind of video that is so manipulated from its true form that its fiction can be mistaken for fact. This book has a lot of “real characters” coupled with “impossible” plot lines. Some of the catastrophe hits close to home and the timely release of May 2020 makes you wonder how Carrey must feel about his fiction being too real.

If you can take the intensity, read this book. It’s otherworldly!

  1. Borkali, 7 out of 10 ain’t bad for the summer of 2020. I have no idea how many books I’ve read & am close to finishing a book book and an audiobook. I don’t think I can do Jim Carrey’s otherworld anytime close to the magisterial Apeirogon, which I should finish tomorrow.

  2. I’m with Teri. I don’t think I can take the intensity. I’m learning too much about real-life conspiracy theories right now. Hope to meet up on Sunday with folks!

    1. I appreciated the female militia that was made of amputees from the iraq and afghanistan war who kidnapped silicon valley folks to create the best bionic limbs for these vigilantes, but it seems TOO REAL, B.
