Using my QTBIPOC bingo square here – a book of poetry I picked up along the way on a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. I got this at a shop in Tigard, OR along with some fun stationery. We read this aloud while driving and I cried during a few lines though I can’t recall which since we were just flipping around. When I visited friend Denny we went to the Ballard Locks and he read ‘i’m going back to Minnesota where being sadness makes sense’ and ‘my bitch!’ the first line of which is, o bitch, my good bitch. bitch my heart.’ Twas a lovely way to spend a morning in Seattle. Here’s a link to a NYT article about the book is more informative than this short review: LINK

You’re the only friend I have whose sightseeing companion read ‘my bitch’ aloud at the Ballard Docks.

I like to listen to VS on The Poetry Foundation, the podcast hosted by Danez Smith and Franny Choi. It’s always a good time! Great to have that report of your poetic visit with Denny. He’s a wonder, and so are you. If I can get my act together, I’ll send you something I wrote in response to something Danez wrote. IF is the operative word in that sentence.

I love the way this book traveled with you, borkali, the way it ventured out into the world with you. Go Denny…
