Interview with Isabel Allende

I listened to an interview with Allende on Democracy Now. Her latest book is The Wind Knows My Name. I’m looking forward to reading the novel, but I won’t be able to check it out from my library for awhile; I’m number 11 on the waiting list. Meanwhile, the interview was quite wonderful. I highly recommend it. Allende just turned 80. She wrote her first book, The House of Spirits, at 40 with no formal writing training. I remember when it was published.

  1. Barbara, thank you for this. This interview was stunning. Both heartbreaking and inspiring, I admit there were a couple of moments I wasn’t certain I could keep listening as the events she was describing were just too painful. But I’m glad a toughed it out. I was deeply moved by what she is doing with her foundation. And I loved the response when she asked “what’s the point? There is so much trauma and need it is insurmountable.?” If we can make a difference in just one life…
