If you haven’t heard of City of Asylum – https://cityofasylum.org/ – you should check this organization out! I have visited their physical location in Pittsburgh, PA — such a cool place. This event celebrating Elena Ferrante made me think of y’all so I’m putting a link to the event here:

Just happen to have that slot open on my calendar. 🙂

Thanks for the link. I listened to the replay and loved the conversation. I wish we could all have a cup of tea or glass of wine with Ann Goldstein. Ferrante has moved up to the top of my to-read list.

I tuned in and enjoyed it, too, Barbara. It was lovely to hear how her journey to translation started and continued. Pretty dazzling to start learning Italian at the age of 31. Her brain must be especially plastic.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I missed it, though with the weather getting colder I do find myself feeling closer to finishing off the last 2 books in the Neapolitan series — and then this new one sounds worth a read.
Though Ben Lerner’s book is awaiting me for curbside pickup at the library…

You may still be able to see a replay at: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/celebrating-elena?utm_source=profile&utm_medium=profile_web&utm_campaign=profile. It was a very interesting conversation about the art of translation.

Thank you for the link! I will definitely give a listen– the webcast at ModPo this last week was about mishearing / translation — feels congruent!

Here’s a list of books recommended by Elena Ferrante; I got an e-mail from Bookshop (supporter of independent bookstores). I thought Ferrante fans might be interested.
